Field Service Engineer (FSE)
Summary:
LE3 is looking for Field Service Engineers based out of Houston, Texas, that can maintain assigned medical equipment and support systems with a primary focus being on Sterilizer and Washer/Decontaminator repair, provide great customer service, and is willing to travel.
Salary:
The pay range for this position is $30-$40 / hour. Pay is dependent upon the applicant's relevant experience and training. Bonuses may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Field Service Engineering level positions focus on the repair and maintenance of a variety of medical equipment devices typically found in the hospital setting. This position will focus heavily on Sterile Processing equipment including Bulk Steam Sterilizers, Washer Decontaminators, Ultrasonic Cleaners, Cart Washers and Scope Washer/Disinfectors. The Ideal candidate will be assisting in the development of an effective, efficient, independent functioning quality service program. Performs routine repair and maintenance activities of medical equipment, ensures patient safety as well as staff operating equipment, in accordance with company policies and procedures, manufacturer’s documentation, industry standards and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Responsible for efficient use of resources related to repair and maintenance costs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision dependent on FSE level and consistent with completed training and qualifications. Performs routine tasks while building quality service making high level decisions and sound judgment. Independent completion of tasks pertaining to the peak performance and optimal operation of assigned equipment while ensuring patient and staff safety. The following are some responsibilities expected:
Repair and Maintenance:
- Performs timely routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities as required and recommended by the manufacturer and established company policies and procedures, including maintaining aesthetics of the equipment.
- Coordinates and completes scheduled and unscheduled routine repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance of all ancillary devices assuring all manufacturer’s recommendations are followed and in compliance with company policies and procedures, industry standards and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Documents all daily, weekly, monthly repair and maintenance activity/repairs per applicable policies and/or procedures.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Collaborates with facility staff to ensure all regulatory and OSHA requirements are met.
- Identifies instances where company policy and procedures are not being met including escalation of issues to next level management.
Miscellaneous, Operational and Educational:
- Must maintain all documentation relating to repairs and maintenance on equipment.
- Complete required company training.
- Transports equipment as needed and with supervisor consent.
- Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution.
- Other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Position involves active work including lifting, bending, walking and standing for considerable lengths of time.
- The use of dollies or other equipment is mandatory when moving heavy weight items. May be required to frequently lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. as high as 5 feet.
- There is potential exposure to chemicals and infectious materials. Scope of work includes high voltage equipment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided by the company if needed.
- Work environment is typically in air temperature-controlled areas with moderate noise levels. May be required to work in various outdoor elements.
- Evening and weekend availability, as well as ability to take calls is required. Overnight travel may be required.
SUPERVISION:
Dependent on FSE level, from minimal to close supervision.
EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. (REQUIRED)
- Associate Degree in electronics / biomedical technology, or equivalent a plus.
- Valid Driver's License issued in the employee’s state of residence. (REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 1 – 5 years related experience.
- Must have prior experience working on Sterilizers and Washer/Decontaminators.
- Prior experience working in an industrial/medical technical setting a plus.
- Manual dexterity required - ability to use common hand tools and small power equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend and communicate in the English language.
- Computer literacy with the ability to navigate through common operating systems, such as Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have experience Servicing Steris Sterilization Equipment.
