Job Summary
Day Shift. 7:30am - 5:00pm. Full time and PRN options.
The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating/assessing needs of referred patients and formulating treatment plans. Provides therapy services defined in treatment plans. Works cooperatively with physicians, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team. Maintains accurate documentation of therapy services in the medical record. May supervise physical therapy assistants, therapy techs, and students.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Performs a comprehensive evaluation on each assigned patient, within established time frames, considering the patient's age, diagnosis, prior level of function and living situation. Establishes a treatment plan for each patient which includes measurable goals and revises these goals as necessary for individual patients. Conducts and adapts treatment programs in consideration of patient age, diagnosis, physical, psychological and socioeconomic welfare. Designs and fits adaptive devices such as orthotics, mobility aids and tools based on patient needs. Teaches patients/family skills and techniques to meet the comprehension level of the patients/family. Maintains appropriate documentation of patient status summarizing treatments rendered and patient response. Maintains communication with physicians, via verbal and written reports, regarding patient progress and specific needs. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team. Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature and in-service meetings. Attends meeting as required. Serves as Clinical Instructor for Physical Therapy/Therapy Assistant Students under the leadership of the CCCE. Supervises Rehabilitation Technicians and Aides appropriately. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements
Graduate of an approved professional program in Physical Therapy. Sufficient prior clinical experience in Physical therapy. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Registration and current licensure in Mississippi.
