POSITION SUMMARY
The Systems Administrator is responsible for providing professional-level technical support services to ensure
the integrity and reliability of assigned servers, operating systems, and related network applications and
services. The Systems Administrator will work with CGL Companies Active Directory domain, virtual server
environment, networking, SaaS and IaaS platforms, cybersecurity systems, enterprise backup systems and
storage area network (SAN). This position will also be responsible for administering Microsoft Windows based
file servers and assisting with cyber security initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Serves as the administrator of division server hardware and operating systems; monitors, reports, and resolves system problems.
- Proposes policies and procedures relating to systems administration, security, and data storage; and assists in the implementation of such policies and procedures.
- Installs, configures, and maintains servers, appliances and networking equipment that require attention; creates virtual server environments for hosting various server operating systems.
- Assists in the development, and implementation and maintenance of backup and disaster recovery plans for servers and systems.
- Installs, configures, upgrades, and patches operating systems, network operating systems, system utility software, applications, and third party software on commonly used operating systems; installs upgrades to operating systems and applications.
- Maintains updated local documentation on all aspects of servers and other equipment; responds to emergency calls as necessary regarding computer system failures or environmental system problems.
- Plans and oversees the configuration and implementation of assigned relational databases and application systems; ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations.
- Serves as an additional security team member, aiding in incident response (IR).
- Responsible for account creation, group policy management, mailbox management, mail routing, license administration of software.
- Assists with security configuration standards for systems and business applications.
- Attends meetings, workshops, and conferences, participates in required technical training to maintain technical currency.
- Installs, updates, and maintains wireless network, WAN optimization, and network switches and firewalls.
- Implements technical systems and monitors them for unusual and suspicious activity across a wide range of products.
- Participates in technical and non-technical projects requiring information security oversight and to ensure policies, procedures and standards are met.

- Remains current with new security threats and assess systems to ensure they can defend the business.
