Teller Supervisor
Job Description
The Teller Supervisor oversees the teller staff, ensuring all daily operations, service, and sales standards are met. The selected candidate will oversee daily balancing activities, auditing, and reporting. Responsible for the delivery of excellent customer experience in the teller area. Provides leadership for enhancing a positive teamwork environment and is responsible for focusing the tellers’ activities and directives to reach bank goals. This position requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to motivate staff and effectively organize and delegate duties among the teller staff. Ensures proper training to new tellers and continuing education to existing tellers on operating, regulatory, product knowledge, sales, and security policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Supervises teller staff, assisting in the coaching, training, and the development of the tellers in the areas of transactions, product knowledge, service standards, and financial consultation of customers.
- Schedules work hours, breaks, lunches, and PTO for all teller personnel.
- Overseas the teller line that processes a variety of financial transactions.
- Ensures tellers are properly trained on all applicable consumer operations policies and procedures, including but not limited to Reg CC holds, Know Your Customer Documentation, Dual Control logs, and Branch Opening/Closing/Robbery Procedures.
- Assists tellers with more complex tasks, approves exception transactions, backs up tellers, and performs teller duties alongside the others on the frontline.
- Is responsible for the vault and auditing, likewise, reporting and balancing of all cash drawers.
- Responsible for maintenance and balancing of the ATM.
- Manages the branch currency levels, and tracks currency deliveries and shipments.
- Maintains working knowledge of all products offered by the bank and corresponding policies and procedures.
- Performs monthly and weekly reports to verify controls are in place and executed, inclusive of branch audits.
- Observes teller team customer interactions and provides input to Branch Manager on associate recommendations, performance reviews, and/or sales/service issues.
- Provide training and guidance to tellers to insure adherence to procedure and error free processing.
- Demonstrate good risk management decisions, including but not limited to displaying solid knowledge of guidelines for fraud prevention and robbery, when to place holds, and following proper wire confirmation procedures.
- Manages and reports teller shortage and overages to Branch Manager
- Regularly recommends process improvement ideas, product or service enhancements, and shares customer and employee feedback.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required (some college is preferred)
Experience
- At least 2 years of prior teller experience
- Three (3) or more years working in a retail banking environment is preferred
