Job Overview:
We are seeking a CPA with 3+ years of experience who is interested in making the change from public to private accounting in the position of Corporate Controller. As Controller, you will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial activities of the company and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This is a key leadership role that requires financial acumen, the ability to manage a team, and will report directly to the CFO.
Duties:
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department to ensure the integrity of data in and data out, internal controls and the preparation of timely financial statements including: balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flows and maintenance of associated workpapers.
- Coordinate and oversee any required outside reporting including public accountants, benefit plan audits, bank reporting and covenants.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely payment of amounts due to employees and required payroll reporting (940’s, 941’s, MIUIA, FUTA, 1099’s, W-2’s, etc.).
- Act in a fiduciary capacity as the Plan Administrator for the Employee’s Profit Sharing Plan and Trust.
- Provide financial analysis, interpretation and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Advise on family planning, estate and trust issues.
Skills:
- A good understanding of corporate accounting, finance, budgeting and forecasting.
- Highly proficient computer and spreadsheet skills; knowledge of SQL helpful.
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance requirements.
- Proficient in financial accounting and double entry bookkeeping practices.
- Strong knowledge of taxation with a focus on tax planning and strategies.
- Good report writing skills for preparing comprehensive financial reports.
- Knowledge of payroll processes and Federal and State regulations.
- Solid understanding of corporate accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger management.
- Ability to perform accurate account reconciliations.
