Mount Carmel Home is a Skilled Nursing Facility in Kearney, Nebraska. We have 75 residents and offer rehabilitation, memory care, hospice and long-term care. Mount Carmel Home is seeking a qualified LPN or RN. Every 3rd weekend rotation. We offer weekend and double time holidays. Great benefits package to include company paid health insurance and company match 401K.
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate or an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse of Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Nebraska
- At least one (1) year experience in long-term care is preferred
- Must be CPR certified
- Must demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Must maintain a positive attitude as well as set a good example for co-workers
- Must demonstrate a willingness to be flexible with assignments and tasks, including assisting with direct resident cares
- Must have physical and mental capabilities to perform duties and responsibilities included in this job description
- Must have the ability to do comprehensive nursing assessments of residents and document findings
- Must have the ability to tactfully deal with residents, family members, co-workers and others
- Must demonstrate the ability to take charge of personnel or situations using tact, diplomacy and constructive criticism
- Must have the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, etc. to perform nursing duties throughout the workday
- Must have knowledge and demonstrate correct lifting techniques
- Assure resident safety
- Must have the ability to detect changes in residents’ conditions and act appropriately in regard to these changes
- Must have the ability to work every third weekend and scheduled holidays
Responsibilities:
- Distribute physician ordered medications, PRN medications and treatments as needed
- Supervision of nursing personnel, including medication aides and certified nursing assistants
- Oversee, delegate and assist with the direct care of residents
- Monitor staff to ensure completion of assigned duties
- Responsible for compliance with and enforcement of facility policies in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Records employee absence calls and/or no-call/no-show employees for all departments when they phone the facility. Find replacement staff for nursing department as needed.
- Assist with admissions/transfers/discharged as needed
- Tube feedings as ordered
- Report any disciplinary problems to Director of Nursing as soon as possible. Intervene immediately if witness to any staff to resident abuse of any type. Has authority to send employee home immediately as needed to protect residents.
- Creates a good public image of MCH and actively promotes teamwork
- Follows dress code and monitor nursing staff for compliance with dress code
- Transcribes physician’s orders per facility policy
- Completes telephone orders from physicians and sends them for physician’s signature per policy
- Documents all pertinent information concerning each resident in the nurses notes and communicates this information with other appropriate staff
- Complete comprehensive resident assessments as needed, including skilled charting and assessment on Medicare Part A residents
- Responsible for admission, readmission, weekly and monthly skin assessments
- Breathing treatments, which includes the assessment prior and following treatment
- Doctor Notifications
- Daily Assignments
- Incident Reports
- Monitor staff performance and provide example of excellence in areas of infection control and safety
- Assure resident safety
- Assist with orientation of new staff
- Report medication errors to Director of Nursing and complete Post-Error Action, per policy
- Document observations of resident conditions and behaviors according to facility policies, utilizing nurses’ notes
- Complete quarterly, annual and significant change Nursing Summaries as assigned
- Must carry hallway cellphone, pager and radio at all times
- Respond to call lights and meet resident’s needs in a timely manner
- Other tasks as assigned by Administrator or Director of Nursing
