Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated X-ray Technician to join our medical team. As an X-ray Technician, you will be responsible for operating X-ray equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients. Your role will play a crucial part in assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions.
Duties:
● Manage staff for assigned sections and develop training materials.
● Orient applicants and/or new employees on the overall job requirements, policies and work procedures.
● Interview and hire qualified job applicants.
● Counsel employees on unsatisfactory performance and/or work behavior.
● Responsible for staff retention, which includes ongoing staff monitoring and counseling employees at risk
of ending their appointments.
● Administer formal disciplinary action, up to and including discharge.
● Delegate work duties and responsibilities.
● Approve time off and work schedules to assure proper staff coverage.
● Maintain time records and submit proper information to the payroll department.
● Coordinate training of new staff technologists, maintain staff competency and coordinate the training
necessary to keep technical staff current with the latest technological advances. Ensure completion of
annual competencies. Maintain training records.
● Provide regular staff meetings and ensure written summaries are maintained.
● Keep Department up to date for State and Physicist
● Maintain/Perform paperwork and QCS/QA
● Order department supplies
● Prepare patient for CT or X-ray: explain procedures to patient and/or family: prepare room, equipment,
medicine and materials as needed
● Assist/Schedule/Perform Necessary Facility requirements such as Fire Safety requirements, Hazard
Evaluations, Annual Facility Maintenances, and arrange BioMed PMs and Repairs
● Assist/Handle in necessary permitting throughout the facility: Fire Safety, Sign, Compressed Gas, Fire
Extinguishers, Alarms, Sprinkler, and any other applicable permitting and licensure requirements.
● Prepare gastrografin mixture and other chemicals for CT
● Observe patient and machine during procedure; report unusual occurrences and record patient’s condition
● Record/monitor radiation dose administered during scans and respond appropriately to any deviations from
normal amount of expected radiation exposure
● Determine technique for ionizing radiation during radiological exams
● Evaluate Department and Facility issues and Create QAPI plans and implement needed improvements.
● Develop X-ray film in accordance with photographic techniques.
● Clean and disinfect CT/ X-ray room and equipment; maintain stock supplies; inspect emergency trays;
write weekly reports
● Provide education for staff/peers based on identified needs
● Communication and Customer Service Skills
● Serve as Team Member and resource for nursing, physician and medical assistant staff
● Turn over/ cleaning of patient rooms after evaluation and discharge
● Maintaining cleanliness of assigned patient and staff areas
● Assist with keeping work area clean
● Flexibility in performing dual roles such as helping check patients in/check out
● Operate laboratory equipment and perform point of care testing and quality controls
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures using X-ray equipment
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during the imaging process
- Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order
- Develop and process X-ray films or digital images
- Collaborate with physicians to review and interpret images for diagnosis
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures performed
- Adhere to safety protocols and radiation protection guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited X-ray technician program preferred
- Valid certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) or Radiographer required
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Proficient in operating X-ray equipment and related technology
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
