Shelter Operator
Job Description
The Lighthouse is looking for a part-time staff member that can help provide shelter and hope to those affected by domestic violence. We are looking for an individual that is available to work 12:00 am-8:00 am and all shifts with availability to pick up other shifts to cover vacations, etc.
You will serve in various capacities to bring healing to the families we serve. You should be prepared to work in an environment that requires flexibility and teamwork and able to pass a background check.
Qualifications
- Oversee and maintain all aspects of household operations with multiple families.
- Must be outgoing, positive, self-motivated and a team player who works cooperatively with different types of personalities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with basic computer proficiency.
- Provide support to help inspire individuals achieve self-sufficiency.
- Must have the ability to remain calm during crisis and act promptly adhering to policies and procedures.
- Able to climb stairs several times per shift and lift up to 30 pounds
- Able to work holidays and weekends.
- Ability to pass a Background Check.
- Maintain CPR and First Aid Certifications.
- Maintain safety and sanitation of the shelter.
Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a professional standard of ethics and confidentiality.
- Maintain an environment where safety and health are promoted.
- Provide accountability to residents to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Maintain daily logs of house activities, individual resident activities and maintenance issues during shift to inform coworkers of updates.
- Complete room inspections to ensure everyone is safe and policies adhered to.
- Answer phone and door.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance with files, records and documentation.
- Be accessible to clients.
- Required to clean and sanitize units upon vacancy, clean office area and take trash to designated area
- Responsible for house (not client) laundry.
- Participate in regular House Manager and Staff meetings.
- Ability to remain calm and be constructive when faced with an emergency.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
