REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Lifesaving Partnerships HUB Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Lifesaving Care Technician II, or LCT II, is responsible for providing care for Operation Kindness transport animals at the Lifesaving Partnerships Hub. The Lifesaving Care Technician II is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, as well as following proper procedures for disease prevention and sanitation. This position will also provide support for rescue partners with their medical appointments, which may include loading, unloading, restraining. As part of the Community Initiatives team, the Lifesaving Care Technician II will play an integral role in helping to support our goal of assisting pets from local shelters, as well as helping pets and their owners in the community.

SCHEDULE: The Lifesaving Care Technician II position is full-time for approximately 40 hours a week. This is broken down into four, 10 hour shifts each week,.
Summary of Essential Job Tasks:
· Ensure that all animals are properly identified with tags or temporary collars and that all cages and kennels have cage cards.
· Clean and sanitize all animal enclosures and the kennel areas per our Standard Operating Procedures.
· Maintain cleanliness throughout the day by removing messes in a timely manner.
· On a weekly rotation, deep clean to sanitize kennel areas top to bottom.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of other spaces in the kennel areas, as well as storage spaces.
· Clean, maintain, and remove waste from outside play yards and surrounding areas.
· Clean, sanitize, and organize outside storage area for portable animal crates.
· Clean other shelter areas and/or equipment as requested or assigned.
· Clean and sanitize all food and water bowls.
· Wash, fold, and restock laundry.
· Feed all animals in our care twice daily according to the color-coded measuring system.
· Ensure that all animals always have access to fresh, clean water.
· Be aware of special/prescription diets, special feeding instructions, and follow the directions laid out for them.
· Walk and exercise all dogs regularly throughout the day.
· Assist in loading/unloading transport animals.
· Assist rescue groups with their medical appointments.
· Help with animal evaluations including giving vaccinations, deworming, and administering necessary medications.
· Log medical procedures into the PetPoint database.
· When needed, provide assistance to the Community Initiatives Outreach team and/or assist with Pet Pantry appointments.
· When closing for the day, perform security check, ensuring that all animals are secure, clean, not in stress, and properly bedded down.
· Make sure necessary doors are closed and lights are out.
Additional, relevant tasks as assigned by the Lifesaving Partnerships Hub Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements
Education
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent relevant work experience
Experience
- One year of part-time or full-time work experience for which references are available
- Minimum of 6 months of Animal Care experience
- Previous veterinary or shelter experience is plus

- Physical requirements: must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must be able to work 10 hours sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and standard background check.
Physical Effort: Position requires lifting and carrying animals and shelter materials weighting up to 40 lbs.; when animals or materials weigh over 40 lbs., another staff member will assist in the lifting and carrying. Position also requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and animal diseases.
