LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
The licensed practical nurse carries out all clinical and administrative duties in support of the providers and the patients under the direction of the Executive Director/Medical Director. S/he works in support of Koinonia Primary Care’s mission to provide the highest quality of care in Jesus’ name.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide patient care services including, but not limited to: Escorting patients to exam rooms, taking vital signs, phlebotomy, administering immunizations, placing PPDs, testing visual acuity and hearing
- Interview patients about their medical history, medical problems and current medication use, administer screening tools such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7 and AUDIT-C
- Assist providers in performing clinical services
- Health education and patient care planning under the direction of providers
- Document all necessary items in patient electronic medical record in accordance with all applicable laws, professional standards and office policies
- Track inventory of clinical supplies and create purchase requests as needed
- Complete prior authorizations and other insurance company-related communication as needed.
- Respond to patient questions and concerns both in-person and over the telephone
- Stock exam rooms and keep them neat and orderly
- Other duties as assigned to promote efficient and effective operation of clinical services
Qualifications
The applicant must:
- Must have a valid NYS License
- Must have at least 3 years’ nursing experience in an outpatient setting
- Up-to-date first aid and CPR certification
- Be an excellent communicator who is team oriented and flexible
- Demonstrate good clinical judgment and independent decision making
- Exceptional customer service skills, compassionate and friendly demeanor
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Schedule and hours
This is a part-time, 40 hour a week position. The candidate must be available Monday-Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. There may also be occasional opportunity for extra hours to cover for other nursing staff.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
