Summary
Family and Community Service of Delaware County offers a wide range of programs and receives funding from various sources, such as the state and federal government, corporations, and foundations. The Senior Accountant, reporting to the Director of Finance, will manage the daily financial operations of a $3 million budget. This includes overseeing Grant Administration and Reporting, Accounts Payable and Receivable, and maintaining the General Ledger. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensuring internal control and safeguards for revenue receipt, costs, program budgets, and actual expenditures.
· Managing the monthly/quarterly/year-end close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, adjustments, schedules, report generation, and account reconciliation and analysis.
· Providing oversight for the accounts payable process.
· Completing government funding/grant requests, budgets, and monthly grant reports.
· Assist in coordinating audit activities.
· Consistently analyze financial data and present accurate and timely financial reports to the Director of Finance.
· Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process and help complete financial plans. Compare these plans to actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances.
· Maintain all fixed assets, including calculating gains/losses on disposals and booking depreciation.
· Assist in implementing policies, procedures, and processes as directed by the Director of Finance.
· Use technology to optimize reporting and analytical functions.
· Perform any additional projects and analysis as assigned.
Specific requirements include:
· A successful candidate for this position must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and have accumulated five to seven years of experience as a Senior Accountant.
· Experience should include coordinating audit activities, managing reporting, budget development, and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger tasks. Additionally, a proven track record in grants management related to compliance and reporting of government, corporate, and foundation grants is desirable.
· Prior experience in the nonprofit sector is advantageous.
· Proficiency in accounting and reporting software, particularly Sage Intacct, is beneficial.
