The Student Success Advisor is responsible for mentoring students, building relationships with students, assessing student needs, goals and academic experience in collaboration with the instructors to address the academic advising needs of individual and/or groups of students.

- Serve as the ally, advocate, and accountability partner for students.
- Provide academic advising to students, focusing on keeping students on track with their academic and attendance requirements. Monitor and encourage student retention.
- Counsel students on attendance/progress issues.
- Managing student issues as needed and escalating as dictated by policies and procedure.
- Provide support to students using the Learning Management System and other technology.
- Provide a welcoming environment for newly enrolled students and maintain effective communication with them throughout the course of their program.
- Deliver New Student Orientations including on Saturday morning every 5-6 weeks.
- Present a clear understanding of the policies and procedures and assist students with their requests.
- Complete Student Advisor check-ins/ administer surveys at scheduled intervals as required.
- Work collaboratively with instructors on the warning process for attendance/progress.
- Process timely student status changes (LOA, ITR, VW, OW etc.) and other student services documentation in accordance with process and policy.
- Monitor and encourage student retention.
- Responsible for clear and consistent documentation of all communication with students.
- Other duties as assigned (i.e. maintain goals as developed by Supervisor).
Education and Experience:
- High school diplomas/GED or equivalent.
- Preferred minimum of an associate's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
- Preference given to 1-2 years of higher education experience with student interaction.
- Preferred 2-4 years of upper level administrative assistance.
Essential Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse population.
- Detail-oriented and customer service and compliance-focused.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) or equivalent software, the internet, email messaging, and a variety of software applications. Experience using on-line student information systems, a plus.
- Ability to effectively, professionally, and tactfully interact and communicate, both orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Skill in independently composing letters, memos, reports, and written communication materials using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, composition, text editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability and flexibility to prioritize, regroup, strategize and multitask.
- Skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail. Skill in organizing tasks, documents and materials with efficiency and accuracy.
- Proven record of accountability, follow-up and follow-through.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of institutional colleagues.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a service environment that is subject to frequent interruptions and skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
