We are seeking compassionate and attentive volunteers to support theology students in honing their public speaking skills by providing constructive feedback on their speeches. As a Student Support Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to engage with diverse perspectives while helping students refine their communication abilities. Please note this is an unpaid volunteer position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend Virtual Speech Sessions: Participate in scheduled virtual sessions where theology students will deliver speeches on various topics within their field of study.
- Listen Actively: Pay close attention to the content, structure, and delivery of each speech, demonstrating active listening skills throughout the session.
- Provide Constructive Feedback: Offer thoughtful and constructive feedback to students, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement in their speech content, organization, delivery, and overall presentation style.
- Encourage Growth: Support students in their journey to enhance their public speaking skills by offering encouragement and guidance tailored to their individual needs and goals.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of the feedback exchange and uphold the privacy of both the students and their speech content.
- Collaborate with Organizers: Work collaboratively with program organizers to ensure smooth facilitation of virtual sessions and contribute ideas for improving the feedback process.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in theology, spirituality, or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Reliable internet access and proficiency in virtual communication platforms (Zoom).
- Respect for diverse perspectives and a willingness to engage with ideas from various theological traditions.
Time Commitment:
- Volunteers will be asked to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per week/month, depending on their availability and the scheduling of virtual speech sessions.
- Flexible scheduling options will be available to accommodate volunteers’ other commitments.
