Position Summary
This individual is responsible for carrying out the everyday responsibilities of the Mold Base Manufacturing Team. The team includes CNC Machinists, Tool Crib, and Bench Assemblers. Specific focus on quality, efficiency, and on–time delivery.
Principle Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the mold base production in accordance to QCT (quality, cost, time/delivery) model. Best quality, at the lowest cost with on time delivery.
- Drives the team's performance to ensure key performance indicators (KPI's) meet or exceed company goals including but not limited to spindle efficiency, on time delivery, machining efficiency, scrap and rework.
- Ensures the company’s safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Trains, advises, answers questions and counsels employees on current CNC Mill production methods, bench hand assembly, tapping, deburring, and tool building.
- Champions continuous improvement and lean activities
- Ensure quality requirements are met and that corrective actions are identified and implemented
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel
- Establishes machining priorities, monitors progress, revises schedules, resolves problems, reporting results on shift production summaries.
- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques
- Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives
- Assist with personnel decisions including hiring, terminations, wage decisions, and promotions
- Stress a clean, secure, and friendly work environment
- Attends and participates actively in team meetings
- Active participant in employee corrective actions
- Order and maintain shop inventories
- Completes special projects as required by management
- Performs manufacturing duties as needed.
Skills Required
- Experience as a Lead CNC Machinist and or Lead Programmer
- Possesses the skills necessary to utilize a vast range of measuring and inspection equipment
- Must be able to read and interpret CAD drawings
- Complete understanding of Mold Base assembly and components
- Advanced knowledge of CAD/CAM software (Solidworks/CAMworks)
- Advanced programming knowledge; tool selection, tool path generation, editing, and posting of cuter paths
- Advanced knowledge of machining; operating skills, set-up (CNC 5 Axis/3 Axis Machines), establish work set and tooling offsets, vertical, and horizontal machining centers.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematic calculations
- Solid organizational skills with an attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Possess the ability to gain respect, inspire, and motivate the efforts of fellow workers
- Physical Strength – High; must be able to frequently lift / push / pull objects that are 40 pounds or heavier
- Willingness to assist and support others
- Ability to operate all computer related hardware and applications
- Experienced in performing Lead CNC Machinist and Lead Programmer duties
Education
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CNC Mill Training Certification
Work Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in related field
