Environmental and Safety Manager

The Environmental and Safety Manager will be responsible to lead, support, and implement environmental and safety programs, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe, healthful, and accident-free work environment. The Environmental and Safety Manager must be knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws and regulations and will provide required training to managers, supervisors, and employees alike.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Lead, develop, implement, and manage compliance in all aspects of environmental, health and safety management.
- Provide company specific and mandatory required compliance training to all employees in the areas of LOTO, Haz Com, Fire Prevention, Heat Illness Prevention, Stormwater Compliance, Injury and Illness Prevention, Machine Guarding, Forklift Safety, and other required topics.
- Maintain compliance with all OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and LRAPA regulations.
- Promote a zero-loss culture by putting processes, systems, and programs in place to recognize hazards and prevent incidents before they occur.
- Effectively coach and mentor managers and supervisors on building a strong safety culture and ensuring safe work practices, and behaviors, are followed.
- Conduct all accident and incident investigations to identify root causes and establish preventative measures to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct inspections and audits to ensure workplace hazards and environmental compliance gaps are identified and company programs and policies are being followed.
- Develop Job Hazard Analysis.
- Conduct sampling and maintain all required reports, records and submittals pertaining to OSHA compliance and recordkeeping, NPDES Industrial Stormwater permitting and compliance, Air Contaminant Discharge Permitting, and Hazardous Materials related programs.
- Communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A BS degree in EHS Studies or an equivalent combination of education and relative work experience with at least seven years’ experience leading environmental, health & safety in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DEQ and LRAPA regulations/requirements.
- Ability to develop and effectively deliver safety training to all levels of employees.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with both hourly and salaried employees.
- Ability to effectively administer and implement EH&S programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside regulatory officials.
- Previous wood products manufacturing experience a plus.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
