Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations and blood draws
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Monitor animals during recovery from anesthesia
- Take and develop x-rays
- Collect and analyze laboratory samples
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
- Experience in handling dogs and other pets in a veterinary setting
- Familiarity with veterinary equipment and instruments
- Ability to perform animal catheterization and other medical procedures under supervision
- Understanding of aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment during procedures
- Basic dog training skills to assist with behavior management during examinations and treatments
