Position Purpose:
To create and maintain a focused customer service driven hotel with a customer service vision that inspires the hotel team members to do their best. To train and work with all staff in order to prepare, cook and present food according to standard recipes in order to create quality food products. Assists food and beverage department in the preparation of all items for the food and beverage outlets and public meeting spaces.

Essential Functions
Organizes kitchen to respond in a prompt and efficient manner to all guest orders and controls presentation consistency and quality of food per Hilton Standards.
Reviews and prepares all banquet/Café orders on a timely basis.
Maintains area in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Reviews on a daily basis all upcoming events and all items used on a daily basis.
Adheres to control procedures for cost and quality.
Stores all food in refrigerated boxes, including covers, labels and dates using proper containers to protect against waste and spoilage.
Insures proper receiving. Storage (including temperature setting) and rotation of food products so as to comply with Health Department regulations.
Promptly sets up and delivers room service orders according to Hilton standards.
Greets guests in a pleasant and enthusiastic way.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hilton from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team Members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members will be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
- Reports any equipment in need of repair to supervisor for service.
- Performs other duties as requested, such as VIP amenities, staff meetings, etc.
- Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards.
- Keeps floors dry and clean to avoid slips/fall accidents.
- Achieves and maintains Hilton standards as related to Food and Beverage.
- Has knowledge of all events in the hotel on a daily basis.
- Responds to all guests in a timely manner.
- Maintains friendly, professional and enthusiastic attitude.
- Performs other duties as requested, such as deep cleaning, moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills, etc. to ensure a safe working environment.
- Performs any required side work and be willing to assist all departments as needed.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate the he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards and guest relations and etiquette.
- Thorough knowledge of food products, standard recipes and proper preparation.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders and communicate with guests to explain and record order
- Finger/hand dexterity in order to operate food machinery and tools.
- Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing maximum 200lbs on a continuous schedule
- Ability to and knowledge of operating all kitchen equipment, i.e. stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, blenders, etc.
- Ability to perform duties in a confined space.
- Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
- Sufficient manual dexterity of hands in order to use all kitchen equipment. i.e. Knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs, slicers, etc.
Qualification Standards:
Education:
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High School education preferred.
Experience:
No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
License or certificates:
Food handlers certificate required.
Grooming:
All Team Members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
Other:
Ability to speak Spanish in addition to English not required but preferred.
