Job Summary
We are looking to hire a Roll Off Driver who safely and efficiently operates heavy-duty cable roll-off trucks and is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting large open-top steel boxes and compactor containers to disposal sites, recycle facilities, and customer locations. Driver navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, lots and may operate in tight environments, including overhead obstructions. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates vehicle in accordance with No Waste Grindings safety rules and operating procedures, as well as, DOT, federal, state, and local laws.
- Performs pre and post trip inspections.
- Operates ELD (Electronic Logging Device) on company provided mobile phone to track progress on route, starts, and finishes.
- Completes and submits customer tickets and trip logs.
- Report all unsafe situations or service related issues to Dispatch.
- Works closely with Dispatch to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Immediately notifies Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
- Notifies Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed customers, streets, etc.
- Communicates customer requests to Dispatch.
- Identifies and reports containers in need of repair or replacement.
- Climb on top of container to prepare load for transporting.
- Loads container on truck by use of cable and hydraulics and ensure loads are secured for transport.
- Ensures containers are completely emptied before returning to customer.
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Dispatch and assists other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required or directed by Supervisor.
Qualifications
Experience: Prefer 3 years with a CDL or equivalent military driving.
- Hold a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with an air-brake endorsement and no manual restrictions.
- Acceptable 5 year driving record required (MVR).
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and employment background check.
Work Environment
Below are key points regarding the physical requirements and work environment of the job.
- Ability to climb on top of containers to tarp/prepare loads for transport.
- Requires pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Normal setting for this job is outdoors and/or driving a heavy duty vehicle.
- Exposed to a physical environment, which involves wood, dirt, trash, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
