Summary Description:
The Disney Lorcana TCG Game developer holds a cornerstone position in the development process for all deliverables associated with our premier trading card game, Disney Lorcana (DLC). This position is responsible for testing all game components, collecting feedback from play testers, updating cards, and participating in discussions about potential future Lorcana products. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and enjoys cross-functional work. Using your knowledge of the French Language, you will confirm that translations are correct and will function as intended. The Disney Lorcana TCG Game Developer plays a vital role within Ravensburger in ensuring that Disney Lorcana reaches its full potential as a global product by creating the most approachable, fun, and exciting gameplay possible.
Hours + Salary Range: Full time, contract position ($24-$27hr, DOE)
Location: Hybrid position located in the Seattle, Washington (US) office with 3 days/week in-office minimum
Reporting: The Disney Lorcana TCG Game Developer reports to the Disney Lorcana TCG Game Design manager.
Managing: The Disney Lorcana TCG Game Developer position has 0 direct reports
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
· Playtest and Develop card sets and other DLC products
o Work with play testers to produce actionable feedback on cards
o Review sets to confirm that products are in line with desired narrative and gameplay needs
o Test future products and suggest adjustments and changes
· Proof French based products
o Proof rules prior to printing to confirm that all of the rules are written correctly, and will work as intended
o Proof Starter deck Rules
o Other product Proofing in Italian as needed
· Maintain Gameplay and excitement
o Provide feedback to help support products and card sets for DLC
o Research, and suggest ideas of other DLC products that align with the Ravensburger values
· Additional Responsibilities
o Coordinate with DLC Localization Manager to ensure all product Rules localization and templates are accurate and comprehensive in French
o Suggest alternate ideas based on the French market
o Additional responsibilities as required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Trading Card Game Experience: Proficient in all aspects of TCG gameplay.
· Familiar with trading Card Game Development: Understanding aspects of testing and developing
· Writing Expertise: Excellent writing skills in French to support clear and concise communication
· Understanding of Metagame: Ability to identify and test cards in new sets
· Communication: Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation) for effective internal and external stakeholder engagement
· Cross-Cultural Skills: Sensitive to diverse corporate, employee, and public needs, with an understanding of international dynamics and cross-cultural communication
· Innovation and Continuous Learning: Open to creativity and innovation, with the ability to identify and implement rational solutions. Committed to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends
· Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using project management tools like Wrike, Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint, etc.
Education and Experience Requirements (Minimum):
· Required (comparable experience acceptable for requirements):
· Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field, Game Design. Or 2+ years TCG industry experience
- Mastery of Written and Spoken French and English Languages
- Comfortable with Microsoft 365, includes Teams and Office
- Comprehensive English fluency (written and oral)
· Preferred:
· Experience with games playtesting
- Broad understanding of and familiarity with the Disney universe
- Localization experience
- Experience with Wrike
- Strong debate and discussion skills
