POSITION: Therapist
REPORTS TO: CEO and Clinical Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, provides therapy and crisis intervention services to abused children and their non-offending family members.
LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE:
Requires the ability to work with a team of professionals from collaborating agencies; conceptual understanding of the role to the Center; operates within Center policies and procedures; strict adherence to confidentiality policy.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Conduct therapy sessions and assessments to Children's Advocacy Center clientele. Use individual, group and family therapy in the provision of services. Provide referrals for therapeutic services to children and protective caregivers when circumstances preclude use of the CAC resources. Use knowledge of cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity in the performance of all responsibilities. Works collaboratively with all counseling staff and team members to provide the most impactful counseling approach.
· Provide on-site evaluation/assessment of clients and client families.
· When requested by the prosecuting agency, provide testimony for the Kaufman County criminal courts that pertain to CAC Therapy Program cases.
· Participate in scheduled case pre-, post-, and monthly MDT staffings of cases. Prepare and present cases for clinical review.
· Maintain case files including session case notes, treatment plans, provide monthly progress reports to Clinical Supervisor. Document telephone consultations, and termination summaries per the terms of Center policies and any grant that provides funding to these positions.
· Provide consultation and regular communication with Child Protective Services, law enforcement agencies, the prosecutor’s office, and any other MDT member and other social service agencies and therapists directly involved with Therapeutic Intervention cases.
· Maintain open and regular on-going communication with Clinical Supervisor / CEO.
· Maintain current licensure and/or certification and group affiliations.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor / CEO.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Master Social Worker under supervision or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Masters in Psychology with licensure. Experience in play therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Experience with abused children. Ability to involve community volunteers in the child abuse prevention/investigation/prosecution service delivery system. Availability for training to obtain or improve skills in those areas listed previously.
