The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is a premier correctional organization where all individuals achieve their full potential. We are looking to fill several physician positions across the Eastern Region.
Each facility operates with full-service healthcare and onsite clinic services. We treat patients with chronic conditions as well as trauma, mental illness and substance abuse. Offenders are treated with respect and dignity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited medical college
- Completion of an approved residency in a primary care specialty, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or similar specialty
- Active license to practice medicine in Virginia, and board eligible or certified
- Extensive knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities
- This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures
- Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of practice and interventions appropriate for the assigned population
- Ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team
