SUMMARY
The Crew Chief will perform aircraft maintenance, parking, preflight and post-flight inspections, aircraft refueling and other servicing activities, and post-flight recovery operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform aircraft maintenance tasks, including special certification & qualification tasks, e.g., engine runs, servicing or aircraft towing, in accordance with applicable technical orders and maintenance manuals.
- Perform routine duties within the first echelon of aircraft supervision, such as aircraft servicing, including hydraulics, engine oil, lubrication, fuel, canopy cleaning, wheel/tire replacement, brakes, light bulbs.
- Troubleshoot and assist with repair, replacement, and rebuild of aircraft structures and components.
- Perform flight control and other component rigging and calibration.
- Complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, parts ordering, and other aircraft system operation functions.
- Document maintenance performed in aircraft logbooks, USAF (United States Air Force) specific aircraft maintenance forms, such as AFTO 781 series forms, and use electronic maintenance information systems (MIS).
- Perform periodic and other scheduled inspections. Assist with preparation of engineering technical assistance requests.

Qualifications

- Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret DoD Clearance.
- Ability to work day shifts, occasional night shifts, and travel domestically as necessary (Approximately 30%).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least four (4) years of USAF (or equivalent military service) fighter aircraft maintenance experience is required.
- USAF, or other military branch level-5 (journeyman skill level) technician (or equivalent) experience is required.
- USAF, or other military branch level-7 (craftsman skill level) technician (or equivalent) experience.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is a plus, but not required.
The pay range for this position is $45.70 to $49.75 per hour, depending on the level of position offered.

- Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs., including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms.
- Ability to climb, stand, stoop, bend, push, kneel, stretch, and walk around hangar, flight line, and offices to perform routine work duties.
- Ability to pass color vision test.
- The environmental characteristic for this position is flight line and hangar settings.
