The Associate Pastor is responsible to champion Real Life Otis’ Vision, Mission, Methodology and Strategy by abiding in Christ and creating a relational culture. We believe in sharing Jesus, connecting the unconnected to purpose, ministering and making disciples who make disciples (SCMD). This position is a critical part of that process.
SHARING:
- ·Provide pastoral care to help people in our church and community with their spiritual needs along with pointing them to Jesus for the purpose of helping them come to know JEsus and abide in Him
- Help our congregation understand our vision, mission and purpose of why we exist as a Church by shepherding, teaching, leading, encouraging and releasing them to follow SCMD Discipleship model
- Preaching and Teaching required
CONNECTING:
- Be available and prepared to support those in their greatest time of need in our church and beyond by facilitating weddings, hospital/home visits, memorial/funerals and caring for those in crisis situations
- Attend and participate in a Small Group
- Connect new believers and attendees to relational environments
- Identify and develop outreach programs and initiatives to serve the local community
- Coordinate and participate in community events to offer care and support
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, organizations and neighboring churches
MINISTERING:
- Strengthen individuals and families within our church by helping them to embrace the spiritual responsibilities given to them, help them as they are being transformed, and teach them what it means to mature and come beside others in need
- Recruit Small Group Leaders by identifying, equipping and releasing them to mature and develop future leaders for the purpose of multiplying and growing new groups
- Focus on finding ways for people to use their God given gifts (time, talent and treasure) for the local body and those outside these walls
- Attend all staff meetings and lead when assigned
DISCIPLING:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to fulfill the church’s mission and vision
- Assist the Lead Pastor in leading and overseeing leaders and support staff
- Fulfill all other assigned duties as required
- Developing and executing processes to ensure overall spiritual, emotional and health for Ministry Leads and staff (examples being Small Groups, Local Outreach, Stephen’s Ministry, Prayer Team, New Believers and Communion Team)
- Organize and execute leadership training to equip, encourage, share and pray together, at least semi-annually
- Meet at least monthly with each Small Group Leader to encourage, discuss wins/challenges, talk about strategies for growth in the groups they oversee and pray together
- Ensure group goals and objectives are met for all ministries under your care, including but not limited to multiplication, maturity, attendance, discipleship and overall health
- Regularly and readily be available for support and to encourage leaders via phone, text, email or in-person
- Be available to intentionally initiate conversations between church services or other times
- Collaborate with team leads to make serving experiences meaningful and impactful
- Collaborate with teams to ensure resources and facilities are used effectively
- Provide and implement regular teaching and discipleship opportunities to help members grow in their faith
- Releasing people to do the work of ministry at the appropriate time, prayerfully
- Participate in elders meetings, taking elder notes and effectively communicate them to the appropriate staff and ministries
EXPERIENCE:
- An attitude of serving Christ
- 3-5 Years Ministry Experience Preferred
- Education Required: Biblical Studies Degree Preferred
- Ordained or licensed as a pastor in a discipleship minded Christian church
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience leading volunteers
- An understanding of relational discipleship and the call to make disciples
- Role modeling Christ likeness in their life, whether married or single
- Able to fulfill elder requirement as set in scripture
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate persuasively and compassionately, both orally and written
- Strong biblical foundation and theological understanding
- Understanding of group dynamics to ensure effective collaboration, decision making and team building
- Personal initiative and diligence which produces follow-through in tasks
- A desire, knowledge and willingness to of resolve conflict biblically
- Computer knowledge in Word, Google, and other software platforms with a preference to Rock and Planning Center
- Available for seasons of irregular work hours
