Mobil Diesel Utility Mechanic
Job Description
Under close supervision, this position is responsible for performing basic services of our tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment at varies sites or rail yard using a mobile service truck. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, this position includes servicing and repairing diesel trailer parts, compiling inspection reports, and ensuring that diesel trailers are roadworthy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing Diesel trailer bodies, systems, and components.
- Performing preventative maintenance measures on diesel trailers.
- Perform intermediate level troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, basic structural repairs on trailer chassis, sub-frames, etc.
- Properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs.
- Inspecting, servicing, and replacing diesel trailer parts, including tires.
- Checking and repairing the brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Testing all systems and equipment for performance issues.
- Ensuring diesel trailers meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements.
- Compiling inspection reports, documenting repairs, and reporting all findings to management.
- Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
- Operate assigned mobile service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements; keep unit clean and well stocked.
- Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard.
- Properly attend to mobile truck inventory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A minimum of 1 year experience as a diesel trailer mechanic.
- A valid driver's license.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, such as hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems.
- Extensive experience with vehicle diagnostic equipment.
- Exceptional understanding of mechanical and technical information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Manual dexterity, experience with hand tools, and physical strength.

Minimum Qualifications:
- At least three (3) year experience as a Diesel Trailer Mechanic.
- Must be computer literate.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of basic mechanics.
- Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
