Position Description
This position is responsible for collecting, tracking, and analyzing permanent employment retention, vocational skills training, and/or related services to eligible CHA- Jobs Plus participants residing in the Dearborn Homes. This position also provides a variety of intake and eligibility assessments, referral, testing and/or related services to eligible people with employment and educational barriers. Serves as direct intake into the Jobs Plus programs for clients and counsel clients regarding orientation.
Jobs Plus Intake Specialist are responsible for providing support to participants and adhering to all CHA implementation requirements.
Essential Functions
- Report daily to office located within the Dearborn Homes development.
- Conducts daily tracking of employed participants, captures and documents retention milestones.
- Assists all participants in developing individualized post-employment plans suited to their educational and training needs, and provides post-employment career counseling.
- Builds a relationship with participant?s in order to build bridges to future long term job retention.
- Collects employment verifications from employers, participants and or services (i.e. Work Number, etc.).
- Participates and supports job placement activities including providing necessary services; including interview coaching, assistance with appropriate dress and behaviors, and other activities as necessary.
- Participates as a member of a team responsible for ensuring that outcome based performance standard is met.
- Coordinates work with partner organizations, Employment Specialist and Business Service Reps. assigned to our participants.
- Conducts workshops/presentations covering a range of topics such as: conflict resolution, overcoming challenges, career advancement, etc.
- Participates actively in team meetings as well as provides support when necessary to team members.
- Completes other tasks as designated by Manager and or Director.
- Responsible for verifying eligibility and information reported by participants.
- Responsible for coordinating and implementing weekly referrals, workforce orientations, intake process and initial data collection on individuals interested in workforce development services.
- Responsible for obtaining all pertinent information, including but not limited to demographics, identification, assessment and other information as needed, on program enrollees Track and report client intake services
- Maintains documentation by completing forms necessary for compiling files, progress reports and entering information into a database.
- Represents the agency and its clientele to the community, public, and private agencies by attending community events, advising agencies on how they can interrelate with the agency, and maintaining working relationships with a broad range of agencies and organizations.
- Answer and follow-up on all inquiry calls.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of occupations, job skills, and labor market trends, community resources and vocational services that impact public housing residents. Knowledge and understanding of job referral and placement procedures. Knowledge of funder requirements
- Excellent communicator, verbal and written, to individuals and groups.
- Must have moderate proficiency in keyboarding or willingness to receive additional training as needed to improve speed and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
- Must be able to work in and independent manner.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications
- Completion of a directly related degree from an accredited institution/university or equivalent combination of training and experience. At least 5 years of work experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description. Completion of a Job Development or Workforce Development certification training preferred.
