WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons a year throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.
At our Acute Care facility we care for clients mental and physical health needs in a group home setting to ensure that they receive the proper treatment and care. The RN and LPN are responsible for ensuring the safety of our clients and the follow through of medical treatment by overseeing the administration of medications, checking vitals, and working with staff members and therapeutic treatment teams to achieve established goals. This position is Full-Time, 12hr shift
What we're looking for:
- Valid Alabama State License-Current
- Prefer Two Years Nursing Experience
- Excellent Oral/Written Communication
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
What you'll be doing:
- Conduct vital signs, i.e. orthostatic blood pressure, weight, height, pulse rate information of all patients in care
- Prepare discharge planning
- Provide basic living skills
- Obtain information from client regarding his/her physical status
- Make inquiries of client to include any changes with him/her, symptoms, etc.
- Assess medication side effects and/or adverse reactions
- Perform medication monitoring
- Perform crisis intervention techniques as needed
- Administer injections, document in client's electronic medical record on a regular basis
- Comply with OSHA regulations when administering I.M. medications
- Interface with local laboratories to obtain test results
- Answer telephones
- Ensure required training is up to date
- May be asked to work at our Crisis Respite Center for our 10-patient facility
- May be asked to sign off on nursing assessments
- May be asked to provide approval of seclusion/restraints as necessary

Miscellaneous:
- Maintain licensure in the State of Alabama
- Complete and maintain documentation in a timely manner
- Attend staff meetings
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and use effective listening and communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to walk throughout the facility
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
- Ability to provide a safe environment and promote quality care through adherence to established standards of care and facility policies, procedures and protocols.
- Complete tasks as assigned by program manager or his/her designee.
