The Loyola Notre Dame Library is hiring three Student Assistants to provide customer service and project support from May 20, 2024 through September 1, 2024. Reporting to the Access Services and Collections units, Student Assistants will have opportunities to work collaboratively and independently throughout the summer.
These positions are open to currently enrolled students at Loyola University Maryland or Notre Dame of Maryland University. Consideration will be extended to recent May 2024 graduates, as well as new students enrolled to begin classes in Fall 2024.
Hours:
Student Assistants will work 20-24 hours per week during summer hours:

Monday-Thursday between the hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm

Fridays between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm

Saturday-Sunday between the hours of 12:00pm to 5:00pm
Compensation: $15/Hour
Responsibilities:

Provide customer service support at the Library’s Help Desk, including checking out materials, answering questions, and referring faculty and students to library staff as needed

Use library and Microsoft Office suite software
-
Process, shelve, and/or prepare for shipment books, media, and periodicals
-
Assist with shifting/weeding projects

Assist in Collections labeling projects
-
Assist with Interlibrary Loan as needed

Special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, with a focus on commitment to delivering high quality customer service

Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with little supervision

Ability to work with frequent interruptions

Ability to adapt well to changes in policies, procedures, and technology

Ability to move and/or lift up to 40 lbs. with or without accommodations

The Loyola Notre Dame Library, located in northern Baltimore City, is a member of the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) and serves Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University.
