JOB SUMMARY
Do you like helping others? Our Employment Specialist position helps individuals to maximize their independence and employability while they cope with personal, social, and vocational difficulties that result from birth defects, illness, disease, accidents, or the stress of daily life. They coordinate activities for residents of care and treatment facilities. Assess client needs and design and implement rehabilitation programs that may include personal and vocational counseling, training, and job placement. The Employment Specialist will also assist by job coaching clients and creating the schedule for all the job coaches.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred 2 years experience in supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, job placement, or similar field.
- Preferred have knowledge of and experience working with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but not limited to)
- Arrange physical, mental, academic, vocational, and other evaluations to obtain information for assessing client needs and developing rehabilitation plans
- Provide motivation and support to personnel seeking jobs
- Converse with clients to discuss their options and goals for successful plan development
- Develop rehabilitation plans that fit clients' aptitudes, education levels, physical abilities, and career goals
- Prepare and maintain records and case files including client personal and eligibility information, services provided, narratives of client contacts, and relevant correspondence
- Participate in job development and placement programs, contacting prospective employers, placing clients in jobs, and evaluating the success of placements
- Locate client employment barriers such as inaccessible work sites, inflexible schedules, and transportation issues and work with client to develop strategies to overcome these barriers
