School Assistant Principal
Seeking a mature Christian who loves children. Communication skills, relationship-building, and a focus on meeting student needs are priority. Experience in administration strongly preferred; five years teaching required. Master's degree preferred; bachelor's degree required. FLDOE or League of Christian Schools teaching certification required.
Principal Function:
The Assistant Principal will assist the Principal with the supervision of ongoing daily activities of the school, primarily in areas that directly impact student learning and parent engagement; carry out the purpose, policies, procedures, and philosophies established by the GraceWay Board under supervision of the Grace Presbyterian Session.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal in reviewing, selecting, and purchasing curriculum and standardized testing materials; coordinate staff trainings and lead implementation.
- Review standardized assessment result data to drive curriculum, instructional, or classroom management changes; coordinate and troubleshoot testing sessions.
- Plan and arrange field trips.
- Exceptional Student Education: Track IEPS/504 Plans and other diagnostic paperwork from all students; develop accommodation plans as needed; ensure that teachers are aware of diagnoses and accommodations; schedule, in conjunction with the Principal, parent meetings, as needed.
- Classroom Instruction: Teach classes as needed.
- Student Schedules: Create and share special schedules for K-8; create and share, in coordination with middle school staff, the middle school class schedules; maintain throughout the year as changes occur and communicate to all; collect classroom schedules to ensure start and end times are accurate as well as lunch/recess times according to FLDOE requirements.
- Monitor and update student attendance.
- Complete student observations and referrals to help provide additional perspective and document.
- Ensure that teachers regularly update grades in the student grades platform and evaluate children, and the results of those evaluations are shared with parents, as needed, and with the Principal.
- Oversee and ensure the regular academic evaluation and progress of students.
- Alternate school funding: Apply for, monitor, and meet communication needs to stay compliant with alternate school funding; apply for grants and maintain reporting.
- Professional development: Work with the Principal to plan ongoing professional development training to assist teachers with the implementation of effective teaching and learning practices, keeping consistent with the school goals and philosophy. Conduct trainings as directed by the Principal; assist emerging teachers with initial certification to ensure that all requirements are met; refer teachers to professional development opportunities to help meet individual and school professional goals; work with the Principal to observe teaching staff as requested and complete required documentation.
- Parent Communication: Assist teachers with preparation for parent-teacher conferences; professionally field questions and concerns regarding school curriculum choices and teaching methods; share in conducting tours with the Principal for prospective families; assess prospective students; coordinate and co-lead (with the School Administration Manager) Parent Organization meetings; attend all meetings and trainings, as scheduled by the Principal; lead meetings and trainings as needed; participate in after-hours events as scheduled.
- Administration: Communicate with the Principal regarding any concerns with school teams and families; dialogue regularly with the Principal and SAM; serve on the School Leadership Team and attend weekly meetings; as directed by the Principal.

- Other duties as assigned.
- Familiarity with common educational learning platforms required.
