Mammography Technologist – Full Time

We are seeking an exceptional, highly motivated, skilled, and engaging professional to fill a MAMMOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGIST – R.T. (R) (M) ARRT LICENSED IN STATE OF VIRGINIA) for a position in our Breast Imaging Center.
Schedule: Full Time, Mon- Fri

Primary Duties Include:
- Turn on mammogram machine, check dressing room for needed supplies. Access Athena net system, print daily schedule, check Athena e-mail. Perform mammography and bone density QA/QC and/or any other needed tests before starting patients.
- After patient check-in: Patient’s current paperwork and billing slip will be placed in bucket when ready. Technologist will bring paperwork back to tech station to review. Technologist will initial beside patient’s name on current schedule along with “IC” to indicate that the machine was cleaned prior to use. Technologist will check breast questionnaire, pregnancy statement and previous films in PACS, if available, before starting exam.
- Mammogram: A minimum of four views will be done, a front (CC) and side (MLO) view of each breast. An additional view can be taken to include breast tissue that was missed on the standard views or to smooth out an area in order to give the radiologist a better image. When imaging a diagnostic mammogram additional views will be taken of the area in question. Specific markers for a “lump” will be used to identify the area in question for the radiologist. Nipple markers are used on all large breasted, implant and diagnostic patents, as well as mole markers for raised moles.. A MammoPad® can be used at the patient’s request. The markers and pad can be discarded when the mammogram is finished.
Protocol for patients with nipple discharge or rash will be followed and documented.
- Follow Up: QA/QC technologist is responsible for follow up on all BIRAD 0, 3, 4 & 5’s. Technologist will call patient to return for ADV or to schedule for breast ultrasound.
- Miscellaneous: Turn in supply order to MAIC manager for mammography and paper supplies. Answer phones if needed to schedule exams for patients,
Additional Responsibilities may include:

Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: MUST be familiar with MQSA regulations. Ability to work in a fast paced, detail oriented workplace interacting with patients on a daily basis. Good communication skills a must. Ability to work with MAIC staff as a team player.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires standing/walking for long periods of time. Manual dexterity, bending and stretching is required for patient positioning and image processing. Busy medical office environment. Some travel between offices may be required.
Manual dexterity is also required for use with computer keyboard, copier, fax and telephone.
Education:
Graduate from an accredited school of Radiological Technology with advanced certification in mammography. Current ARRT and Virginia State License, up to date CEU’s for mammography and biennium. Performed 200 mammograms within the last two years (if applicable).
