Endocrinology Associates of Roanoke, VA is a privately owned specialty practice that was founded in the Roanoke valley in 1976 that provides clinical care to people all over the valley and beyond. We educate our patients with endocrine disorders to help them improve the quality of their lives and stress the importance of quality of care given by our physicians and all staff members. We offer thyroid ultrasounds and fine needle aspiration in the clinic for care of patients with thyroid disorder. Bone densitometry equipment for dual energy x-ray is also available providing absorptiometry (DEXA scan). We strive to help our patients by creating a positive learning atmosphere that will give them confidence in their ability to maintain at-home care and in the care they receive at Endocrinology Associates.
Our practice is looking for a Medical Assistant, preferably with scribing experience and experience in endocrinology to join our team. We are in need of solution-oriented, self-motivated, individuals who can work cohesively as a part of our Clinical Team here at Endocrinology Associates. We will accept applications from MAs, CMAs, CNAs, LPNs -- anyone with a clinical background who is willing and able to learn. Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic human anatomy required
- Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for physician
- Capture patient vitals and escort them to exam rooms prior to physician exam
- Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing EHR applications
- Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information
- Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment as identified
- Provide patient education and counseling on endocrinology-related topics.
- Work collaboratively with other clinical team members to ensure patients needs are met by assisting with refill request, providing results/records, giving injections, and directing communications between patients and providers.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care.
- Communicate with other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
- Promote efficient patient flow and patient care.
- Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record.
- Understand and apply medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Assist physicians with charting and other documentation tasks.
- Assist with ordering laboratory tests and other diagnostic procedures.
- Understand endocrinology principles and be able to recognize abnormal values.
- Assist physicians with patient care duties as needed.

Pay: $14.00 - $25.00 per hour
