Job Summary
Our sightseeing company is in need of a skilled assistant engineer to help service our fleet of vessels. We currently operate our fleet of vessels in the NY harbor and need the help of qualified assistant engineers to help perform maintenance, repowers, rebuilds, start-ups/shut-downs/ fueling, pumping operations, and general maintenance PAID TRAINING AVAILABLE
Position-specific responsibilities
- Assist in the routine maintenance, inspections, and posses general knowledge of:
- Pumps (fire, bilge, sewage)
- Plumbing (pvc, stainless steel, black pipe)
- Diagnose various problems aboard our vessels and determine appropriate repair work
- Ability to find contractors for specific repairs outside in house capability
- Strong leadership skills and ability to delegate work with prioritization
- Fabrication and carpentry skill (preferred)
- Maintain logs and follow up reports
- Perform tasks independently with limited / no direction
- Knowledge of Coast Guard Regulations and ability to keep vessels in compliance
- Work well with others
- Reports directly to Port Engineer
Desired background
- At least 1 years as an automotive mechanic and/or related marine experience (required)
- Electrician certification preferred, not required
- Familiarity with marine application engines and auxiliary equipment
- Experience with operation and maintenance of marine machinery
- Familiarity with Detroit, John Deere, Caterpillar, Cummins, Northern lights engines
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- A physically demanding job requiring the ability to stand, reach, bend, stoop and walk up and down stairs and on uneven/moving surfaces
- Own your own tools and vehicle to bring them to work location (preferred)
- Must have the weekends, on-call, and holiday availability

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
