Electrical Estimator & Project Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable individual to permanently join our team as a full-time Electrical Estimator/Project Manager.
Electrical Estimator/Project Managers are responsible for all aspects of bidding and executing a project. Oversee labor, time, and materials requirements in order to determine the overall cost and successful completion of projects. This role is responsible for increasing profitability through comprehensive cost estimating and project execution. Determining job take-offs to accurately calculate job cost is a fundamental skill set required to perform this role effectively.
General Duties
- Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work.
- Interpret and analyze contract documents regarding terms, specifications, clarifications, and requirements for each project and prepare estimates and bid proposals.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers obtained through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
- Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor and equipment
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors.
- Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame.
- Assessing the risk levels associated with a project.
- Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done.
- Assisting with bids for new contracts and supporting the activities of buyers.
- Monitoring the costs at the different stages of a project to ensure it stays within the estimated costs.
- Recommends ways to make a project more cost effective or profitable.
- May provide support to field operations regarding electrical estimates and project work.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure conformity to specifications and schedules.
- Project positive attitude while establishing effective professional relationships.
- Forecast deficiencies and unrealistic expectations while identifying solutions.
- Create and maintain fluid and effective project schedules.
- Communicate and work closely with customers, vendors, and installers.
- Proactively handle project issues and/or risks.
- Manage budgets, manpower, expenses, and costs to complete.
- Issue and negotiate RFI's and Change Orders.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Familiarity with McCormick and Bluebeam, software preferred.
- Computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of electrical installation, estimating techniques, and cost control.
- Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience estimating and managing projects from $100K to $5M.
- Basic math proficiency — addition, subtraction, multiply, and divide whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in all units of measure.
- Critical thinker and problem solver.
- Team player with a focused attention to detail.
- Positive, can-do attitude is a must.

REQUIREMENTS
- Journeyman Electrician’s License REQUIRED.
- Commercial/Industrial construction hands on electrical experience: 5 years (Required)
- Electrical estimator in commercial and industrial construction environment: 2 years
(Required)
- Project Management – Commercial/Industrial: 5 years (Required)
- Driver's License (Required)
- Ability to Pass Drug Screening
- Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in an office environment, and occasional field environments.
Compensation
- Hourly Wage Rate: $40-48/hr +, DOE
