Th Assistive Technology & Information Specialist will provide services and information to people who may benefit from the use of assistive equipment and technology to improve their ability to complete everyday tasks related to their career and/or daily life.
The selected candidate will promote the independence of people in their home, community, and workplace through technology, adaptive equipment, assistive technology services, and information and assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide information and assistance to people, community agencies, businesses, providers, and others to assist them in increasing knowledge and expertise about assistive equipment and technology, including accessing available resources and acquiring/delivering assistive technology through public and private sources.
2. Assessing the person’s skills and environment to develop solutions toward independence.
3. Research and recommend appropriate assistive technology
4. Implements and trains the person, and other important people in the person’s life per their choosing, on the assistive technology(ies) or equipment; including proper use and care for the technology or equipment
5. Maintain and update internal and external data systems associated with services
6. Knowledge of assistive equipment and technology devices such as computer hardware and software, augmentative communication devices, devices for those with sensory impairments, tools for activities of daily living and mobility equipment; including, keep abreast of changing technologies as it applies to assistive equipment and technology services
7. Provide the four (4) core services of device demonstration, device loan, device reuse and assistance in identifying public and private funds for devices.
8. Research funding options for the range of technological needs for people.
9. Model a person-centered approach during consultations, assessments, and team meetings
10. Work collaboratively with a wide variety of groups such as other AT Access Sites, internal departments, state personnel, school personnel, employers and other agencies in carrying out program implementation

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma and three (3) years’ experience in assistive technology, adaptive equipment, or related experience OR current license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (O.T.A.)
- Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) Certification is preferred
