Sanchez and Associates, a leading land survey and Subsurface Utility Engineering firm, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated SUE Technicians to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Acts as a crew leader working with multiple field crews and supervises SUE staff as needed to complete projects safely, on schedule and within directed scope of work.
· Provide training, quality control and quality assurance of field activities.
· Communicates and coordinates with supervisors and managers for the effective scheduling of crews and to prepare crews for field assignments.
· Leads utility field investigations.
· Reads and interprets roadway plans, as-builts and utility company markups records.
· Extensive experience with single and multi-frequency pipe and cable locators, ground penetrating radar, sondes, rodders, and other geophysical equipment.
· Selects and applies appropriate geophysical prospecting equipment to accurately designate/locate complex underground utility layouts.
· Secures equipment and guard against loss and theft.
· Operates vacuum excavation truck and related equipment and performs minor maintenance and troubleshooting operating problems.
· Daily paperwork, record keeping, simple mathematics and on-site safety meetings.
· Maintenance and up-keep of vehicle, work sites, and equipment.
· Selects and implements proper maintenance of traffic signage.
· Represents and communicates on behalf of company and crew when encountering third parties in the field.
· Coordinates and/or performs survey activities in connection with SUE field work.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain Illinois commercial motor vehicle (CMV) “C” class license or other state equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a DOT medical card.
- 5-7 years’ experience in the SUE or utility related industry.
- Field survey and/or CAD experience preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with DOT SUE/Survey standards is a plus.
- Ability to work in all-weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, operate and carry up to 50 lbs. of heavy equipment
- Ability to travel by motor vehicle up to 10 days continuously and overtime as needed
- Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) in accordance with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE 38-22) is Preferred.
