General Summary
Makes, assembles, or modifies different types of tools to enable the production processes to be as efficient as possible.
Specific Duties
Will consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
- Construct and/or repair new and existing dies, fixtures, gages, etc. to match respective drawings.
- Ensure quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned work.
- Set-up and operate all department equipment (includes turning, grinding, milling, drilling, cutting tools, presses, etc.).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area.
- Assist with the training of new or inexperienced personnel.
- May occasionally do development and experimental work.
- May act as lead on given tooling projects interacting with Engineering, Operations and coordinating Tool Room activities in the construction and repair of new and existing dies.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the 5S housekeeping philosophy
- Participate in continuous improvement workshops/projects
- Follow all quality standards and procedures
- Adhere to company policies as described in the Employee Handbook
Required Knowledge, Skills, Pre-qualification and abilities
- Prior Tool and Die experience
- Able to read and interpret blue prints.
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a periodic basis.
- Able to use quality gages such as Calipers, Micrometers, Comparators, attribute gages, etc.
