A typical day may look like this:
-
Organize report by sorting or filtering by vendor and due date
-
Contact vendors via email, telephone or vendor website to obtain status of open purchase orders (open purchase orders are those items due within the following two weeks or items entered that have not been acknowledged in writing by the vendor)

If tracking number provided – track package via internet on freight sites – confirm receipt and obtain signature information
-
Obtain further information from vendor if updated delivery date is unexpected (i.e. delivery date pushed back more than once, delivery date pushed out more than 2 – 3 weeks, etc.) and notify buyer of potential issue

Update delivery information in P21 item record
-
Attend buyers’ meetings for feedback on vendor issues
-
Attend weekly 5-minute meeting department meeting held by Supervisor and company meetings held by management

Keep work area organized and clean
-
Address special projects as assigned by Supervisor or Lead
-
Buyers Assistant
