DENTAL HYGIENIST

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Dental Hygienist provides patient Care and Basic Dental Hygiene Prophylactic Care
- Carefully review patient health and dental history forms and update as necessary
- Blood pressure and oral cancer screening
- Exposure of necessary digital radiographs
- Utilize intra oral camera for patient education
- Chart decay, disease diagnosis and treatment
- Visually examine & palpate for signs of disease (intra and extra orally), and perform TMJ exam
- Periodontal examination and documentation of gingival description,
- Perform thorough and gentle prophylaxis
- Apply cavity-preventative agents such as fluorides and sealants
- Remove calculus, plaque, and stain
- Administer local anesthetic agents, if certified
- OHI with self-care tools
- Educate patients on good oral health, nutrition, proper hygiene, and oral disease
- Discuss the etiology of oral disease, contributing factors, and relationship to systemic disease (i.e. heart disease, pregnancy, diabetes, etc.)
- Educate and advise patients with educational reading materials
- Perform other tasks assigned by the dentist, hygiene director and team leader
Pay: $44/hr. - $65/hr. (average)

Experience/Certification:
- Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) License to work in Illinois
- Dental Hygiene Degree from an accredited college or university
- CPR certification
