Job Summary:
The Surgical Technician is responsible for providing support to the surgeon during the operative procedure by passing instruments and maintaining the sterile field.
- Maintains proficiency and knowledge of surgeon's needs, techniques, and requirements at all times in the scrub or CSR role
- Processes and cares for specimens and cultures as directed by set policies
- Possesses knowledge of anesthetic agents, techniques, actions and interactions
- Delivers care according to established organizational goals and objectives
- Maintains surgical instruments in good working condition
- Processes and sterilizes instruments and equipment according to manufacturer’s and AMII recommendations
- Replenish sterile supplies as needed
- Assists in ordering supplies, maintaining inventories, and storing supplies appropriately.
- Use, protect, and disclose patient’s protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
- Follow all United Medical policies, uphold professional standards, and perform work responsibilities in a manner that is respectful to others
- Perform other duties or projects as needed

- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and reaching
- Walking (8-10) hours, standing (3-8) hours, bending and sitting (occasionally)
- The employee must be able to lift and or carry over 20 pounds as well as push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
