Electrical Special Projects Manager
Objective:
The position of Electrical Project Manager contributes to the overall success of the Special Projects Team through effective leadership while managing relationships with clients. This role oversees projects that require a design-build approach where customers approach them with an “end product” they desire, and this individual would scope, design, and deliver a project to accomplish the customer’s goal. This demands that the individual estimate and manage all concepts of the job and work closely with field operations to deliver a quality product.
Responsibilities:
- Be a Team Player
- Presents a positive attitude about the Company and Position internally and externally
- Estimate, sell, and deliver on projects – “Cradle to Grave” project delivery. Most jobs range from $5000 to $1m.
- Maintains an organized database that tracks subcontractor and vendor information, performance, workload, etc. for use during Estimating Meetings
- Capable of defining scopes of work, generating rough sketches/drawings, and delivering on a complete system for the owner.
- Develops a project budget
- Acquires, manages, and renews the Utility Locate process, including 811 local or large locates and private locates, as appropriate
- Obtains necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites
- Fully responsible for the successful management of project budgets and cost reporting
- Thorough buyout efforts, culminating in the development of complete subcontract and vendor scopes of work that effectively transfer risk and maximizing reward
- Leads quality assurance and control on the project, discussing goals/ objectives, concerns, and issues with the Project Foreman, documenting, as needed with Subcontractors and Vendors, ensuring the work is completed at a high level the first time, mitigating rework, and if needed, ensuring rework is completed quickly and acceptably
- Documents, tracks, and submits pending change requests, as required, by the contract documents
- Ensures the implementation of the safety policy, leading by example and fostering a safety culture
- Monitors field production and accurately tracks within the schedule, discussing trends with the Foreman and FSSI Management
- Monitors owned and rented equipment utilization to ensure productive use
- Completes reporting documents accurately and timely
- Organizes and maintains all operation documents on the local server and shared file collaboration platforms, including but not limited to Bluebeam, Teams, and Procore
· Ensure expedient and efficient project closeout
- Mentors and trains junior operations staff and teammates
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with Owners and Design Professionals
· Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc., are adhered to Interpret policies as required
· “Sell” and promote the company
- Assist with the development of pre-award presentations
- Assist with post-construction analysis for lessons learned
- Leadership through example, sharing knowledge, skill, and professional experience
- Supports a highly organized work environment, with the ability to manage multiple projects with various bid dates, simultaneously
Qualifications:
· Experience in the electrical market, capable of understanding trade specific terms, materials, and workflows.
· 5+ years of relatable project management / estimating experience including proven experience in executing business plans, and managing the financial performance of assigned projects
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively
- Proven record of being a self-starter and able to work under limited supervision
- Ability to collaborate and work well with Team members while managing stressful situations in quickly changing environments
- Proficiency with all Microsoft’s suite of products (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, Teams, and Outlook), Bluebeam Revu, and Procore
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment with a diverse group of professionals
- Ability to meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment as well as prioritize assignments from multiple individuals or projects. Supports a highly organized work environment
- Ability to proactively identify problems and propose solutions
- Ability to communicate effectively and work productively
- A Team mindset, with honest two-way open communication
