This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
This position will work closely with other section staff to ensure the success of DEQ’s Environmental Stewardship Initiative (ESI) program. This position will provide support for program management, event coordination, EMS training and auditing, marketing and outreach, and grant management and reporting.
This position should possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team to gather information and provide solutions to ESI members and DEACS' clients. This position should be comfortable with public speaking and have good time management and interpersonal skills.
Travel to assigned client sites or events throughout the state will be required as part of the program's outreach and marketing efforts. Frequency of travel is partly based on need but may be 5-10% of time monthly. This position must hold a valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities:-
Develop outreach materials (e.g., newsletters, social media posts, case studies, press releases, presentations), participate in program marketing and outreach activities, and support EPA P2 grant activities (e.g., applications, tracking, reporting).

Coach assigned ESI member facilities through virtual or on-site technical assistance related to management systems, pollution prevention strategies, membership advancement and ESI requirements.

Assist senior staff with providing management system training, auditing services, and technical assistance based on the ISO 14001 standard.

Work with other team members to organize and host the annual ESI Conference, in-person/virtual meetings, networking events, trainings, and webinars.

Support DEACS' response to customer inquiries and contribute to special projects as needed.
