Job Description
Qualifications:
1. Licensed in NY as a registered professional nurse (RN)
2. Preferred CNOR from AORN; evidence of continuing education.
3. Current BLS and ACLS required
4. Recent Operating Room experience required.
5. Language skills: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively both written and orally.
6. Computer and keyboard proficiency.

5. May have exposure to hazardous equipment and / or agents.
6. Physical demands require employee to stand for extended periods of time, lifting, moving heavy equipment and patients, manual dexterity and other physical activities for patient care.
Responsibilities:
· Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients, and others.
· Knowledge of principles of asepsis, infection control and universal precautions. Reduces chances of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
· Knowledge in the use of equipment and instrumentation specific to the OR, as well as cleaning, of the same.
· Knowledge of surgical procedures and specific nursing care for a wide variety of surgical specialties.
· Monitors and assesses the physical status of the patient through personal observation and interaction.
· Assesses and responds to the individual, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient and significant others.
· Acts as patient advocate in the coordination of patient care.
· Utilizes supplies, equipment, and resources to contain cost without compromising
delivery of care.
· Utilizes professional nursing judgment, takes action to implement the nursing care
plan and resolve the problems identified for the individual patient.
· Reports and documents information accurately and in a timely manner.
· Seeks guidance, direction and assistance where needed. Follows center policy and
· procedure at all times.
· Communicates a positive and caring attitude toward patient, peers, staff and all other
contacts.
· Ensures that the Code carts are fully equipped, defibrillators are in operational readiness and that daily checks are completed.
· Changes gas cylinders as necessary to maintain medical gas system integrity.
· Ensures communication of need for replacement tanks or system problems. Monitors gas outlets for shutoff at end of each day.
· Promotes cooperation and minimizes disruption to the working environment.
· Prepares nursing and operative documentation for each patient.
· Check all suction outlets and monitors to insure they are all functioning properly.
Job Type: Per diem
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour

Weekly schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Experience:
- Operating Room: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
- RN (Preferred)
