JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the Host/Hostess is to seat guests in a prompt, friendly and efficient manner, ensuring equal distribution of customers among servers. This function will be performed in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and the expressed intent of Ark Las Vegas standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Collect, clean, and inspect all menus. Notify management about the worn ones.
2. Neatly write specials on menu board as required by Management.
3. Greet and seat customers in a friendly, courteous, and efficient manner. Use proper greeting and maintain eye contact.
4. May be required to pull out chairs for guests and/or arrange tables for large parties.
5. Maintain a professional appearance and stay in assigned work areas.
6. Assign tables with proper consideration to guest personal preference and status of dining room, using knowledge of table numbers and station plans.
7. Maintain an accurate guest flow to maximize available tables and minimize wait time, while maintaining an equitable rotation of stations.
8. Notify management of VIP guests or special requests.
9. Supply guests with information on services available at New York-New York and at other Ark locations.
10. Monitor the number of customers waiting to be seated. When large parties arrive for seating, notify managers on duty.
11. Answer telephone at the Host stand with a pleasant tone and proper greeting. *
12. Ensure smooth transition during shift changes. Remain on duty until relief is present and acknowledges that they are ready to begin duties. Please notify manager on duty that you are leaving for the day.
13. Pick up debris from floor to avoid safety hazards. Report all major safety hazards to Management.
14. As the guests depart, thank them for dining with us and extend a sincere invitation to visit our restaurant again.
15. Perform other job-related duties as requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Requires mobility and prolonged standing.
· Work in busy, fast-paced restaurant environment.
· Requires bending and reaching as well as pulling and pushing chairs up to ten (10) pounds.
· Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure and effectively deal with guests, management, and employees in all situations.
NON-PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to read, write, and speak verbally, in English, with management, employees and guests.
· Possess the ability to perform basic math skills.
· Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees.
· Be a team-oriented individual who enjoys working with and serving customers.
· Perception and awareness of customer needs and ability to understand questions, and instructions from supervisors and co-workers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· Preferred experience in high-volume full-service restaurant.
· High school education or equivalent.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- Employment eligibility for the United States.
- Southern Nevada Health District Food Handler Card (Health Card)
