Continental Express, an asset based, truck load carrier is currently seeking an Operations Assistant at its new terminal in Oswego. Ideal candidate will have administrative and dispatching experience in the transportation industry. Must be extremely detail oriented and possess excellent communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicates with customers electronically and via telephone to schedule freight pick-up and delivery appointments.
- Enters appropriate appointment times and other pertinent pick-up and delivery information in AS400 system.
- Conducts on boarding of new employees
- Assist Terminal Manager with communicating and dispatching drivers as needed.
- Checks appropriate customer sites/portals for load information.
- Answers telephone calls professionally and assists callers by providing necessary information or directing the caller to the necessary company contact.
- Performs other administrative duties as assigned by Terminal Manager.
KNOWELDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Experience/knowledge in transportation/logistics preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer knowledge and skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 or 4 year degree required.
- 1 year or more related experience in transportation or logistics related field required
