Position Description
The Immigration Law Unit handles a variety of immigration cases, including deportation defense and detention work, and family-based and humanitarian-based immigration benefits, T and U Visas, VAWA applications, and asylum matters.
In addition to providing direct representation to clients before the Immigration Court and USCIS, the position requires preparing and delivering community education; conducting outreach; active bar participation; and special legal and community projects. The position will also be responsible for the supervision of immigration staff attorneys and paralegals. This position is based in our Immokalee office but regular travel to our Naples office will be required.
Qualifications
· Member in good standing of the Florida Bar Association;
· Eight years of experience in Immigration law preferred;
· Experience with supervising staff;
· Experience serving low-income individuals, victims of crime, veterans, or other marginalized communities preferred but not required;
· A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve;
· Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment;
· Strong organizational and time management skills;
· Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners;
· Excellent written and communication skills;
· Ability to work constructively with others;
· The ability to speak more than one language is a plus.

Salary and Benefits
This exempt, full-time position is competitive and commensurate with experience starting at$85,000. LASBC offers a generous benefits package that includes health, vision, dental, and life insurance (for the employee), retirement, 13 paid holidays, and generous annual and sick leave allotments starting at 15 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per year—good work-life balance.
