Position summary:
This is a part time position hours will vary per week. You will be required to work weekends and some evenings. Schedules are fixed with one shift working 8-4 Sunday thru Tuesday with Wednesday's alternating 8-12 one week and 12-4 the next. The second shift is Thursday thru Saturday 8-4 with the same alternating hours on Wednesday for a total of 3 1/2 days on and 3 1/2 days off.
Kennel technicians provide a safe, stable environment for the animals under the care of the Porter County Animal Shelter. This position is responsible for providing quality care of the dogs and cats housed in the kennels as well as the cleaning and maintenance of the kennels, dog exercise yards and adoption complex. Position also includes assisting the public while they search for a new companion.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
The applicant must have knowledge of or be able to learn effective animal handling techniques.
