Full-time/Year-round Position Based out of Pratt, Kansas with travel to surrounding counties

Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly responsible for the development and implementation of all individualized programs, including case management for children and their families enrolled in Infant Toddler Services in accordance with Arrowhead West, Inc.’s (AWI) corporate policies and procedures, KDHE infant-toddler regulations, and any applicable licensing and CARF standards.
Maintains accurate records, data logs, attendance, and Medicaid billings of children on assigned caseload in accordance with agency policy and accreditation standards. Coordinates the development and implementation of the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children on caseload.
Serves as a Family Service Coordinator for assigned families requesting services.
Provides developmental supports for eligible children from birth to age three in the family’s natural environments and daily routine by using a primary coaching model.
Helps design the learning environment and activities that promote the child’s acquisition of skills in a variety of developmental areas. Provides families with information, skills and support related to enhancing the skill developmental of the child.
Coordinates completion of files and serves on case record review committee.
Conducts developmental, hearing, nutrition and vision screenings for infants and toddlers.
Participates in child-find activities with other community agencies as assigned by the Infant Toddler Services Manager.
Conducts evaluations and ongoing assessment in the areas of fine/gross motor, cognitive, communication, social-affective behavior, and self-help skills for children enrolled in Infant Toddler Services.
Serves as AWI representative on the local interagency council as assigned by Infant Toddler Services Manager. AWI staff may not serve as the Council Chairperson.
Assists families in identifying available service providers, including coordination with medical and health providers.
Assists with public relations in cooperation with and coordinated by the Public Relations Coordinator and as assigned by the Infant Toddler Services Manager.
Facilitates the development of a transition plan and conference for preschool services, if appropriate.
Ensures that follow-along visits are conducted for children dismissed or referred from Infant Toddler Services.
Makes recommendations to the Infant Toddler Services Manager regarding problems, needs, or opportunities related to the provision of Infant Toddler Services.
Performs other functions as assigned by the Infant Toddler Services Manager.
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher General Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Early Childhood Special Education. Requires substantial knowledge of early childhood education and potential handicapping conditions. Must be capable of planning, writing and monitoring individual program plans. Management capabilities are important, as well as ability to work well with other professionals. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Preference may be given to qualified individual who is bilingual in Spanish.
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Maintain current teaching license with endorsement for Early Childhood Special Educator from the Kansas Department of Education. Valid driver’s license (safe driving record, Department of Motor Vehicle check).
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. May need to climb up/down stairs. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Ability to drive car. Position requires daily travel within assigned area.
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Salary Range: Determined by school district contract
