Additional Details:
The job is an all year round live-in position and includes vacations and holidays. Hours per week will typically vary from 0 to 20 hours per week with generally more hours needed during the academic terms or in preparation thereof. The position includes housing and utilities and includes meals when the students are provided meals during the academic semesters. Candidate may be a full or part-time graduate student or have a full or part-time job. The primary requirement is to be present living in the house and be nearby in case of emergency.
Duties include:
· General management of the Sorority House
· Employing, supervising, and discharging of employees of the Sorority in connection with the operation of said Sorority House, though hiring or firing of employees must be with consent of the Board of Directors for the Housing Corporation.
· Oversight of repairs and maintenance of the house, including receiving bids for work needed, maintaining warranties, recording and keeping a maintenance log.
· Coordinating with the Chef and the kitchen staff who is supervised by the Chef and consult with the Chef as needed on the budget for food and supplies.
· Overseeing the safety and well-being of the sorority members and their compliance with house rules.
· Overseeing the safety of the students and property.
· Enforce the rules of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst which govern the operation of the Sorority Houses and the rules of the Sorority.
· Be present and oversee “move-in” and “move-out” days and maintain records of damage to rooms and/or common areas and make assessments of fines/security deposit deductions.
· Live in the Sorority House – year round, with the exception of vacations.
· Participate in social functions which are considered customary or otherwise require the presence of a House Director
· Communicate with other House Directors in the Greek Area and the Office of Greek Affairs of the University if requested or as needed, including the monthly meetings of the House Directors Association.
· Communicate regularly with the Housing Corporation Board regarding status updates, issues of decision requiring the Board’s input, and attend meetings if needed or requested.
· Communicate with the Chapter Accountant regarding issues of payroll and expenses and managing property expenses.
· Assist with the Greek Bill program for billing and issue communications to assist with the payment plan or collection of room and board and dues.
Qualifications:
· Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher level of education.
· Must have good written and verbal communication skills
· Must be able to exercise reasonable and responsible judgment and discretion…always the adult in the room.
· Must be able to meet with contractors, handymen, vendors and seek estimates/bids.
· Must be able to respond immediately to emergencies if and when they arise.
· Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs and walk up and down stairs.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree, or seeking a Master’s degree preferred or a minimum of 5 years work experience since Bachelor’s
· Operations experience preferred
· General computer skills including use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
· Having taken at least one course in accounting or experience with bookkeeping is preferred by not required.
· Certified CPR or training preferred.
· Experience as a sorority member preferred.
