Job Purpose:
Plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operation of nursing department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator and Medical Director, to provide appropriate care within skilled nursing facility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate the nursing department in accordance with the organization’s established guidelines, and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conducts observations of nursing care and supervises development of in-service education to ensure nursing staff is competent in current knowledge and skills.
- Set objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department.
- Organize and coordinate admission, nursing, and patient care procedures.
- Develop and enforce policies aiming for legal compliance and high quality standards.
- Oversees nursing schedules to ensure resident needs, regulatory and budget standards are met.
- Participates in the recruitment, hiring and termination of nursing personnel.
- Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to identify and resolve issues and improve the quality of services.
- Conducts observations of nursing care and supervises development of in-service education to ensure nursing staff is competent in current knowledge and skills.
- Great knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in long term care.
- Possess the ability to effectively communicate with residents and family members.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or is a graduate of an accredited/approved RN program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum, two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a long-term care facility. Possess education, training, and/or experience in one of the following: rehabilitative nursing, geriatric nursing and/or psychosocial nursing.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in state of practice
