Job Summary
- Artvango Therapeutic Services, Inc. provides individual/ group/family expressive counseling, prevention education, parenting education and continuous psycho education to the community.
- We are currently seeking a part-time contract LPC or LPC-A counselor who has specialized knowledge of art and/or play therapy techniques, helping processes, child development, parenting skills, family system, the effects of trauma on the brain and the overall affects it has on a child.
- You set the # of hours you want to work. This position is very flexible and applicant has to have their LPC license, LPC-A or LCSW.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Behave and communicate in a client centered manner while performing therapy.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team setting
- Manage case documentation and other responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Communicate with outside agencies such as schools, law enforcement, Child Protective Services, and other service providers in the community on a need be basis
- Conduct individual therapeutic services with families if needed
- Conduct individual therapeutic services with children and adolescents
- Facilitate group therapeutic services with children, teens, and adults (if applicable and seasonal)
- Utilize art and play and other experiential therapeutic practices in the therapy sessions
- Demonstrate case management skills, ability to connect with other local resources for appropriate referrals
Skills & Specifications:
- Understanding and background using strengths-based, client-centered counseling approach
- Practice in facilitating or teletherapy expressive art and play, meditation, grounding, and other experiential therapeutic techniques preferred
- Experience working with children and trauma, a plus
- Ability to act effectively and compassionately in a crisis situation
- Knowledge of evidence-based frameworks and interventions relevant to mental health conditions, i.e., trauma informed care, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, client centered therapy, trauma-focused interventions such as TBRI
- Must be able to pass the Artvango's Criminal Background Check requirements, possess a valid driver's license, and have reliable transportation with proof of proper auto liability insurance coverage
Education & Qualification:
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or clinical social work ( LCSW, LPC, LPC-A, LMFT) from an accredited institution and current Texas license will be shown preference
- One or more years experience conducting individual, family, or group therapeutic services
- Two or more years experience in a victim advocacy agency, social service environment, mental health agency, or other related experience
